Author – Terry O’Brien is an academician turned full time writer, a passionate quiz enthusiast, a freelance media consultant and a passionate motivational trainer. He has published over 150 books.

About the book – Twitt-er on a Saddle is a collection of 19 short stories. Twitt-er, yes, our very own Twitter bird from the social media takes a much-deserved break and decides to do a bit of world-hopping. He roams around the world and collects precious nuggets of wisdom which can not only help young children to learn some values but can also help adults to touch base with theirs.

Review – When I picked up Twitt-er on a Saddle, looking at its cover, I quickly bracketed it into the category of 4-6-year-old. However, as I started reading one story after another, I realized how wrong I was and that the stories were apt and useful for any age.

Stories are written in simple language. The stories are entertaining and leaves the reader with a timeless lesson at the end. Each moral can serve as a beautiful quote or a powerful mantra. For instance, “Life is an echo. We get what we give!”, “If we start by putting ourselves together, we can put the world together” or “Problems begin when you fight and stop talking.”

My favourite stories are Twitt-er in Singapore, Twitt-er Meets a Soothsayer and Twitt-er Learn from Post It Agony.

I read the stories aloud to my almost 7-year-old all the while looking at the expressions on her face. Not only she was enjoying them, but she was also understanding the deep meaning behind them.

Some books are strictly meant for children. And, then there are some books which in spite of being children’s books are equally enjoyable for adults. Twitt-er on a Saddle by Terry O’Brien is one such book which is a good read for both kids and adults alike.

My rating – 4.5/5

Age group – 7+. However, I would advise you to read these stories to your 6 or 7 year old children.
